Calla Lillies for Fredrick

Picture
2ft x 2.5ft

Calla Lillies, the most common meaning is purity, holiness, and faithfulness. But because they are shaped like trumpets they are also said to symbolize triumph.

Sculpted from a radiation mask, plastics of various densities, jewels, beads and wire; "Calla Lillies for Frederick," is an artistic gesture of triumph for having the courage and fight to battle neck cancer.

Roses for David

Picture
White roses are traditionally associated with new beginnings, but their quiet beauty has also made them a gesture of remembrance. A bouquet of white roses says, “I’m thinking of you.”

Sculpted from a radiation mask, plastics of various densities, jewels, beads and wire; "Roses for David," is an artistic gesture of compassion shaped into a bouquet of fresh roses and arranged in a specially chosen glass vase.

Proposal - Peace Lillies

2.5ft x 2ft
The Peace Lily sculpture will be a graceful eye-catching presentation of Peace Lilies and foliage that glistens and reflects light.

The Peace Lily can have different meanings such as hope, peace, purity, prosperity, progress and development.  More than just symbolic, NASA researchers have proven that the Peace Lily is one of several house plants that effectively detoxify the air.  In Feng Shui practices, the Peace Lily is said to neutralize or balance radiation emissions from televisions and computers; it is also utilized to balance a home's energy to establish a sense of peace and serenity.  It is that sense of peace, purity and serenity that I intend to capture in my sculpture.

The translucent plastic will serve as petals of the flowers and accent in the foliage.  Various densities of clear and translucent plastics along with a handful of shiny and sparking beads will be intermixed with the radiation mask to create the overall sculpture, sized at approximately 2ftx2ft.

Commissioned: $ TBD
